Comedian, writer and director Whitney Cummings is hoping to have the last laugh on the sale of her pristine midcentury modern ranch house in LA’s Studio City neighborhood.

Cummings, who purchased the home in 2011 for $1,484,725, recently put it on the market for a cool $2 million.

“Located in Studio City’s Wrightwood Estates, this private architectural paradise is at the end of a peaceful cul-de-sac,” says listing agent Michael Collins of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. “With an unassuming gated entry and idyllic backyard, this 1960s California ranch has been perfectly updated and modernized for the 21st century.”

Indeed, the front entry is very unassuming. In fact, the home is barely visible from the street. But what’s behind those hedges and two-car garage definitely dazzles.

The shaded entryway with the globe-shaped fountain gives way to an open living and dining room with cathedral ceiling and floating, double-sided fireplace. Striking, architectural sliding doors and floor-to-ceiling windows naturally illuminate the great room.

The kitchen, which opens to the great room, features top-of-the-line appliances, black-stone countertops and spacious cabinetry extending to the dining area.

The single-level home has 2.5 baths and three bedrooms. The master suite includes a fireplace, walk-in closet, and luxe bath with double sinks. The space expands to a second room, which could be used for either an office or a gym. The suite also has access to the lush backyard through a sliding door.

That backyard is an extremely private tropical paradise, offering multiple seating areas and a lagoon-stye pool and spa with a waterfall.

“This turnkey home is perfect for a celebrity, or anyone looking for a quiet, meditative escape in an exceptional location proximate to all,” says Collins.

Those involved in the entertainment industry favor Studio City’s Wrightwood Estates area because it’s just minutes away from the studios in Burbank and Universal City, as well as a quick drive to Hollywood.

2011 was a big year for Cummings. Not only did she purchase this house, but the show she co-created with Michael Patrick King, “2 Broke Girls,” also premiered. Her comedy “Whitney,” a semifictional version of her own life, in which she starred, also debuted.

Since then, Cummin
