Carnival Corporation has now expanded its Hurricane Dorian relief efforts for the Bahamas globally with its Tropical Shipping partnership.

Celebrity News: Carnival Hurricane Relief Goes Global

The Carnival Corporation and Tropical Shipping is expanding Hurricane Dorian relief efforts for the Bahamas. The cruise company which owns nine cruise brands was previously collecting donations across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties but now it has gone global. Anyone across the world can now support the effort by shipping supplies directly to Tropical Shipping in Riviera Beach, Florida

The decision to expand operations comes after a huge interested around the world with inquiries from business leaders and individuals on how they can offer support.

Roger Frizzell, chief communications officer for Carnival Corporation, said:

“We have seen an incredible outpouring of support not just in the U.S., but from many locations around the world, and everyone is asking how they can do more to help.”

“Along with Tropical Shipping and our partnering counties in South Florida, we decided to immediately expand our program to be able to accommodate those who want to provide support from outside the region and help provide NEMA and the people of The Bahamas with the food and supplies they need the most. We want to thank all of our partners and the community here for making this happen so quickly, along with all the supporters locally and around the world who have shown such generosity during this urgent time of need.”

Anyone can ship goods, however, NEMA in the Bahamas which is the equivalent of the U.S. FEMA agency has an approved list of goods that can be sent as follows:

Carnival will also cover the cost of the shipping program with its cruise brands including Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Costa Cruises, Holland America Line, Aida Cruises, Cunard Line, P&O Cruises, P&O Australia and Seabourn. Across all brands, the company is also donating $1 Million towards Hurricane relief efforts. The Micky and Madeleine Arison Family Foundation has also pledged another $1 million towards the effort.

The cruise lines are in full swing making sure the devasted Abaco ad Grand Bahama Islands are supported. The first Carnival owned vessel is expected to arrive at the Freeport Cruise Terminal today to offload urgent supplies such as food and water. Another cruise ship will arrive on Saturday and the company will begin including containers of ready-to-eat food along with the deliveries.

Carnival Pride and Carnival Liberty which are both operated by Carnival Cruise Line will arrive at Freeport on Grand Bahama Island next week to continue the flow of aid to the residents of the hard-hit island.
