Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie star in the drama “Bombshell,” about the women who took down Fox News’ Roger Ailes.
Charlize Theron is grateful for the chance to work with her “Bombshell” co-stars Margot Robbie and Nicole Kidman on the film exploding into theaters in December.
The trio debuted an exclusive trailer on Tuesday’s “Ellen DeGeneres Show,” and Theron spoke of how she knew the project was “very special.”
“It was a script that was sent to my company to possibly produce and maybe for me to work on, as an actor,” she told DeGeneres. “Everybody at my company knew that this was an incredible gift because Charles Randolph wrote an incredibly powerful script.”
Of her castmates Robbie and Kidman, Theron gushed the experience was “like, literally, a dream come true for me.”
“The whole cast, it’s just an amazing group of people,” Theron added, “but we’ve been talking today, and we’ve kind of had this conversation quite a bit at how rare it is where you get to work with so many women, where you get to have an experience where you get to work with people you so admire, and to not just see them on a red carpet, but to have a working experience with them.”

Theron said Kelly had not reached out to her.
“Megyn is fully aware of the film, and I’m really hoping that she’ll see it,” the actress said. “We want everybody to see it who’s involved in this story.”
Last month, Kelly told the Daily Mail that she was unsure if she would see the film.
“I haven’t decided that yet,” she said. “I didn’t watch the other one – the Showtime one (“The Loudest Voice”) – I don’t know if I’m gonna watch this one.”
But there is still hope.
“I’m gonna let someone who loves me watch it first and tell me whether I should see it,” she said.
Still, Kelly had praise for the Oscar winner.
“I’m her fan,” said Kelly. “(She) seems smart, seems like a good mom. So, you could do worse, right?”

Theron didn’t escape DeGeneres’ stage without playing a game of “Who Would Charlize Rather?” where pairs of celebrities were presented as potential beaus and sorted through until one was left standing. Things got awkward when Kidman’s ex, musician Lenny Kravitz, was shown as an option.
Upon seeing the singer’s photo, Kidman giggled to herself and stayed pretty quiet until Theron pointed out the connection.
“You guys dated,” she told her co-star.
“OK, this is awkward!” a flustered Kidman said. “Move on.”
“You dated him?” DeGeneres asked. The two were actually engaged, Kidman revealed in a 2017 interview with The Edit.
“Just move on, this is so…” Kidman trailed off.
“Sorry,” Theron said multiple times, apologizing. “I shouldn’t have put you on the spot.”
“You’re dead,” Kidman shot back.
She added: “I love Lenny. I so recommend him. He’s lovely.”
