24 Senators Of The Philippines – The Marcos-Duterte campaign team says Rep. Sagipo Rodante Marcoleta “is known for cutting the budget of the Human Rights Commission to P1,000 in 2017.” He also voted against the renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise.
MANILA, Philippines – Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte tandem finally released their senatorial list for the 2022 elections on Thursday, January 20 – the latest couple to do so.

The team described Marcoleta as “known for cutting the budget of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) to P1,000 in 2017.”

The House of Representatives, dominated by administration allies, cut the CHR’s proposed 2018 budget as the Commission railed against government abuses under President Rodrigo Duterte, but the Senate increased the CHR’s budget. The commission ended up getting a budget of P508.5 million, P100 million less than it requested.
Marcoleta also forced television giant ABS-CBN to withhold its franchise, something the lawmaker was particularly proud of and boasted about during the event.
Marcoleta is a member of the influential religious group Iglesia ni Cristo, known for its practice of block voting and supported by candidates.

Gadon is part of the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) party founded by the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
“Gadon, a legal expert, has been helping the BBM team for years and has slowly climbed a few spots below the top 12 in the senatorial poll,” the team said.

Gado’s license to practice law has been suspended indefinitely while the Supreme Court considers whether his license should be revoked. The Supreme Court suspended Gad without complaint after he released a video of him insulting journalist Raissa Robles, who had made critical comments about Marcos.
In a senatorial poll conducted by Pulse Asia in December 2021, Gadon was ranked 24th, or a full twelve places below the top 12.
Zubiri, who is an independent candidate, was joined by Vice President Lena Robredo, Senators Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Manny Pacquiao.
Th Congress: Senate, By The Numbers
“The addition of Senator Zubiri to the BBM-Sara UniTeam strengthened the unity ticket’s already strong position in Mindanao, which is his family’s traditional bailiwick,” the Marcos-Duterte team said.
Gatchalian is also a new addition, although Sara Duterte said the senator has offered to be the president’s daughter’s running mate if she decides to seek higher office. On January 19, Gatchalian participated in the tandem’s virtual caravan.
Roque, Estrada and Villar were the first to be named on the list, either through their own announcements or after a public event where they joined the tandem.

Roque’s support for Marcos has been criticized because he was a human rights advocate who, as part of Congress, coordinated efforts to institutionalize reparations for victims of martial law.
Estrada, the looter, was mentioned when his family and former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo formed an alliance with Duterte and Marcos.
Marcos said Estrada, who is on trial for allegedly pocketing millions from the pork barrel, is just a political target of the Aquino administration. The Sandiganbayan granted Estrada bail.
Red Carpet Rolled Out For ‘magic 12’
“The list represents a mix of experienced and proven political figures who have excelled in their endeavors,” Rodriguez said.
Of the 10 on the Marcos-Duterte list, Legarda, Zubri, Gatchalian and Estrada were ranked among the top 12 in the latest Pulse Asia poll. -MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as the National Board of Analysts (NBOC), formalized the victory of the 12 senatorial candidates who won seats in the 19th Congress in a proclamation ceremony in Pasay City on Wednesday, May . 18.
The announcement at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) was pushed through despite the fact that one COC has yet to be counted out of 173 canvass certificates.

The Lanao del Sur COC was not included because some districts there were affected by the electoral failure in some towns. Votes from the province will not be counted until special elections are held in some parts of the Tubaran municipality on May 24.
But the NBOC supervisor said the Lanao del Sur votes will not affect the outcome of the senatorial race.
Estrada, who placed 12th, has 1.8 million votes ahead of former Vice President Jejomar Binay, who placed 13th. Lanao del Sur has about 685,000 registered voters.

The new party of representatives will make the Senate a decidedly family affair, with three pairs of cousins holding a quarter of the total seats: siblings Pia Cayetano and Alan Peter Cayetano, mother-son Cynthia Villar and Mark Villar, and siblings BM Ejercito and Jinggoy Estrada.
With re-elected Senator Riso Hontiveros as the only guaranteed member of the minority, the new Senate will see an even weaker opposition. –
