But June has the best weather to visit Alaska, and the weather is generally good almost everywhere – although it still varies from one part of the country to another.
In June, temperatures across Alaska range from an average low of 47 °F (8 °C) to an average high of 62 °F (17 °C). If the temperature already seems like good news, you’ll also be happy to know that it doesn’t rain in June, which is good because most parts of the country are known for rain throughout the year.

How much sunlight Alaska gets also depends on the region. However, be prepared to experience long days when you visit in June. After all, the June solstice (June 21) is when the northern hemisphere has the most sunlight of the year—including the iconic “night sun” (which is a real thing!).
On average, Anchorage and other Southcentral areas receive about 18 hours of daylight; that another six hours at a time is twilight – so it never really gets dark during the longest days of the year. Further north, Fairbanks and Denali have 24 hours of daylight depending on how far north you go. The festival is part of a long-running chamber music concert series that now runs throughout the month. Some of the best players in the world often come up north for this event. You will be able to enjoy not only exciting classical pieces but also performances by some of the most talented musicians in the world. The festival also includes other special events such as the famous Crab Feed and Boat Cruise.

The 16th annual Spenard Jazz Fest will be an opportunity to see up-and-coming local artists, as well as to see professionals from within and outside the jazz community. The Trapper Creek Bluegrass Festival, held at Boot’s Bison Ranch, is a weekend of social and musical fun. Admission will be limited to 500 people and tickets for the three-day games are $150, or $200 for a four-day ticket that includes camping. Although 500 people seems like a lot, this is a popular event with locals, so be sure to get tickets if you want to go!

Things To Do In Juneau, Alaska (by A Local)
To celebrate Juneteenth, there will be events in Anchorage and Fairbanks. In Anchorage, there will be a full weekend of activities including health, education, shows, playgrounds, and dancers on the Delaney Park Strip. Up north in Fairbanks, the celebration will be from noon to 4pm at Allridge Park in Fairbanks, and will include food, vendors and cultural performances.
Summer heat is the highlight of summer – literally when the sun reaches its peak and lasts the longest during the year. Alaska loves to celebrate it, so if you’re visiting on/near June 21st, you should enjoy one of the events happening this year.
The Alaska Scottish Highland Games is a celebration of Scottish heritage and culture. Stop by the Alaska State Fairgrounds to compete in the games or to watch. There will also be traditional games, music and, of course, food.
