Current Events In The News This Week – There are many challenging things going on in the world right now. Current events. Those two words alone can evoke so many emotions in all of us. It may feel natural and instinctive to protect our children from current events, or there may be a reluctance to have conversations in the first place. What is appropriate at what age? How much information? from where? These are valid questions and I hope we can help offer some resources for them. But mostly, I think it’s important to consider the huge benefits of exposing kids to new things at a young age, making them a part of how they experience the world around them, and how that can be rewarding for their education and their future. After all, our children are the leaders of tomorrow.
Developmentally, children are quite selfish until their teenage years, but this means they lack the capacity for understanding, compassion and empathy. They have a strong need for connection and seek knowledge of their place in the world both at home and outside. Also, children of all ages are curious and want to understand the world as it applies to them. The truth is that nothing happens in another corner of the world that does not affect us in our corner. And there is nothing going on in the world today that is not directly related to the history that children encounter during their studies. We educate global citizens who are connected to the past, present and future.
Current Events In The News This Week
Incorporating current events and news into your homeschool is a great idea and can be tied into multiple subject areas. I think you will find that your children will benefit greatly from reading and researching current events. There are many articles on the web that will help you talk to children about news and positive things to say, and how to create space for their thoughts and opinions as well as usefully express your own.

This resource is very helpful. I teach high school leaving certificate students with moderate to severe disabilities. This resource has helped me create a routine for my students. Students were engaged and enjoyed many activities. The consistency of warm-ups allows me to introduce students to appropriate cooperation and seek help and support not only from teachers, but also from classmates. Different levels help save time and support students at different levels. Students are engaged and quickly mark a variety of life skills reviews. Life Skills Daily Warm Up Worksheet Bundle
I love everything about this dish. There are enough activities for one year. I love lectures and digital activities with real photos. My students are learning and there seems to be a lot of material in this packet. I also like the creative ideas of CBI (Community Based Training) that go beyond the usual scavenger hunt. Adulting Made Easy provides excellent resources for my life skills students who are about to graduate. Her resources teach practical skills that they can use in their lives and not look too immature (which is common with speedos). Thanks for creating these resources!
As an educator new to a vocational education role, Adulting Made Easy’s professional products work great! It was an easy way for my students to understand the different aspects of job hunting and employment. Expert departments have saved me a lot of time because I don’t have to create items myself.
It has been wonderful to use with my homeschoolers and my personal students. In the Vocational Skills class I can use a specific topic along with our weekly topic. It was great watching the kids in my house while I was away. Free Skills – Boom Cards and Interactive PDF Bundle

Try 3 Level Life Skills Worksheets for FREE that practice calendar skills, functional reading, money math, and more! Download Now This year I was lucky enough to receive a free distribution of the Wall Street Journal for my classes. I love CNN10 and the current events video, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to get a free newspaper. Each day, I stacked them neatly on my desk and assigned the students weekly homework, which required them to choose a paper and read it at home.
But I also tried to use them a little more regularly in the classroom. My school has Dear – Drop Everything and Read – Day every month and you guys are great for it. They are great for quickly completing other assignments and keeping “nothing to do” students busy. There is always news to read.
Sometimes I read and discuss newspapers for a whole hour
