What achievements in residence are you most proud of? Being selected as the recipient of last year’s Duane Sewell Resident Award for Professionalism and Humanity was an honor and a highlight of my training.

What leadership experience did you have at the residency? In 2019, I was elected Vice Chair of the Johns Hopkins House Staff Council, a position in which I advocated for the interests of more than 900 residents and fellow physicians. In the academic year 2021-2022, I worked as the administrative director of our department.
Who was/were your mentors? Mentees? DR. Carole Fakhry, Marietta Tan, Kofi Boahene, Shaun Desai and Zandy Hillel were very influential mentors for me. Over the past 6 years, I have mentored fellow residents and medical students, relationships I plan to continue.
What happens after graduation? As a graduate of our T32 research track, I will be spending my seventh and final year at Johns Hopkins Department of Otolaryngology, specifically the Department of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

What are your career goals? I am pursuing a career as a surgeon and scientist seeking to advance our understanding of laryngeal wound healing in order to improve the treatment of scar-related voice and airway disorders in my patients.

Please highlight the strengths of your training: Along with the excellent surgical and clinical training, I am grateful for the strong sense of community that underpins Johns Hopkins Otolaryngology. It is a privilege to be a part of this progressive, dynamic and collaborative department.

The fun aspect of training at Hopkins? The sense of camaraderie here at Hopkins is extraordinary. Traditions and residential events made these five years unforgettable. Among the most important is the relay of the running festival between participants vs. residents of Baltimore, an Otto-Bear-Yongology camping trip, and several joint dinners and festivities.

What achievements in residence are you most proud of? I am most proud of participating in translational research during my T32 research years, studying a question in the lab that was inspired by the earlier patient care I did as a PGY2 resident.
What leadership experience did you have at the residency? I organized events for T32 residents to explore potential areas of research, including the first Oto-BEAR-yngology Resident Campout (now an annual tradition).

What achievements in residence are you most proud of? I am proud of the time I spent during my T32 research fellowship creating the groundwork and patient-centered website for oropharyngeal cancer treatment decisions.

Please highlight the strengths of your training: My training in pediatric otolaryngology at Hopkins gave me incredible experience managing complex patients. There are many opportunities to learn from these patients and discuss their care and one-on-one with faculty at case conferences.
What are your career goals? I would like to work in academic medicine and care for pediatric and adult patients with otological and neurotological disorders.
