Under the Sea is located in the back of Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World. When you enter the park you can go straight (or around) the castle and pass the roundabout. Continue straight / smooth right, passing the Beauty and the Beast buildings (Belle’s Blessings, Be Our Guest, Gaston’s Tavern) on your left and you will reach Under the Sea on your left immediately afterwards.

Under The Sea Journey Of The Little Mermaid

If you have Genie+, Under the Sea is a low priority. You can save it for later or try to catch it even though it has a quick return time, hopefully you can do the same in Mad Tea Party, Dumbo, and Barnstormer by hitting some trips in quick succession.

Without Genie+, you can try these same rides (Barnstormer, Under the Sea, Dumbo, and Mad Tea Party) within the first hour or so of park opening if you want short stays. The stay will also be lower at the end of the day due to the remote location of the tour surrounded by tours mainly for young children.

If you are visiting Magic Kingdom with small children, Under the Sea is a good choice because it does not have a height requirement. Like most dark rides, there are parts that scared our kid during his more sensitive moments, but we never found it bad enough to skip the ride.

Disney’s Art Of Animation Resort

Under the Sea is a classic dark journey through the story of The Little Mermaid. It’s a basic ride, with no significant effects, but it’s fun, musical and colorful. Since the wait isn’t as high as Peter Pan’s Flight or even The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, it can also be great for multiple trips. You can see a video of the trip here.

In the early to mid-1990s, Walt Disney Imagineering attempted to develop a dark Little Mermaid ride for Disneyland Paris and Magic Kingdom parks. This ride was also included in early plans for Tokyo DisneySea and Hong Kong Disneyland. None of these versions were actually produced, although computer-generated animation was included on the Platinum Edition DVD of The Little Mermaid in 2006.

Disney later designed and built another version of the attraction for Disney California Adventure as part of an effort to revitalize that park in the 2000s. The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure opened on 3 June 2011

In September 2009, Disney announced that Mickey’s Toontown Fair at the Magic Kingdom would be demolished to make way for the Fantasyland expansion.

A dark Little Mermaid ride would be one of the new elements, similar to the one planned for construction in California. Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid was published on 6 December 2012.

It reopened on 10 May 2014 with some hiccups; New sea creature figures were added throughout the ride, King Triton’s castle scene was added, the “Under the Sea” scene was given a light black treatment, and the sculpted hair of the Ariel and Prince Eric figures were replaced with realistic hair. the scenes “kiss the girl” and “finale”.

At Disney California Adventure, the building is inspired by a 20th century aquarium, topped by a statue of King Triton. The queue goes through a series of canopies and into the building itself. The cargo area features a large hand-painted mural depicting the main characters of the story.

The Magic Kingdom attraction, featuring Prince Eric’s castle and surrounding cliffs, has a different exterior and queue. Guests walk through a cove at low tide and part of the queue is an interactive treasure hunt with Scuttle. The mural in the loading area is also very different from Disney California Adventure.

At both parks, guests board one of 105 Omnimover vehicles known as large, colorful shells (similar to those found in The Seas with Nemo & Frids at Epcot). These proceed through an opening in the broken hull of Prince Eric’s ship. Scuttle greets the guests and confusingly tries to tell them Ariel’s story, with the instrumental version of “Fathoms Below” behind him. The shells turn backwards as they travel along the beach and go down “under water” (an effect achieved by projection and jets of cold air). As they continue to spawn, the shells pass through rocky underwater passageways filled with algae and coral (at Disney California Adventure you can also see clams, fish, seahorses and starfish in the passageways). Ariel and Flounder can be seen briefly. overload

The underwater passage reveals Ariel in her cave, singing “Part of Your World”. She is surrounded by her collection of treasures from human life. A flounder floats by her side and Sebastian is seen from time to time among the bric-à-brac. As he reminds Ariel of the wonders of being under the sea, King Triton’s castle can be seen in the distance, and the scene cuts to a large underwater garden where Sebastian leads dozens of sea creatures singing and dancing through the song ” Under the Sea”. .”

The celebration gets underway as Flotsam and Jetsam, Ursula’s pets, welcome guests to the sea witch’s roof. The clams move into the skeletal mouth of a monstrous beast and find Ursula chanting “Poor, Unfortunate Souls” inside, standing in her crystal ball surrounded by her collection of lost souls. Ahead, a vortex of light surrounds Ariel as she trades her voice for a pair of human legs.

Shells rise through the projected bubbles and splash on the edge of a pond. Sebastian sings “Kiss the Girl” as Eric and Ariel sit together on a boat, leaning in for a kiss before shyly backing away. After leaving the pond, the shells pass a door in Prince Eric’s castle, where Ariel and Eric’s silhouettes finally kiss. A golden orb shines from Ariel’s neck, indicating that she has regained her voice. The orb continues to surround the two, forming a heart shape as Ariel and Eric kiss. Ursula’s huge smoking silhouette can be seen on the horizon.
