What is the full armor of God that Paul writes about in Ephesians 6? He uses terms like “armor of righteousness” and “sword of the Spirit,” but what does that really mean? These things are really very relevant to our daily Christian life! Here is an overview of what they are and how we can use them.
Putting On The Armor Of God
In Ephesians 6 we read how important it is to put on the full armor of God. This is what a disciple should wear against the wiles of the devil. Like the physical armor, the armor of God is made up of different parts:

The truth is twofold. Loving and recognizing the truth of my human nature that the Holy Spirit shows me, because only when I see it can be changed by things like selfishness or pride. The other is just telling the truth. Lying makes me vulnerable and leaves me open to attack. If you lie to protect my reputation or “save my skin”, it wears a chink in my armor.
Righteousness is the result of faithfulness to the commandments and will of Jesus for my life. When I do justice in small and big things, it protects me like a shield from the arrows of my enemy. Little acts of iniquity are like holes that Satan can sneak in and accuse me and hold me.
The gospel of peace is an instruction on how to come to peace from sin. The peace of Jesus is achieved through the war against sin, in which the desires and desires of the flesh are defeated.
What Is The Armor Of God — How To Have A Relationship With God
This war can be for personal peace against my desires and their desires, or it can be a war to spread this gospel of peace to the world. These two things can only be achieved by fighting
(Ephesians 6:12.) To do this spiritual warfare, I need to be prepared with the mind of Christ, which is the attitude that I am willing to be obedient to do God’s will, no matter what.
With this shield of faith, I can resist all Satan’s attempts to persuade me to doubt, give up, despair, disobedience and sin. When I believe in God and his promises and walk in the obedience of faith, then this shield always protects me. When I go forth boldly and courageously, no matter what I feel or what I may be tempted, then Satan’s flaming arrows shoot forth only from the shield of faith.
The Full Armor Of God
When I believe that the end of my faith will be the salvation of my soul, as Peter writes, then I will be able to resist everything that the devil tries to dissuade me from my faith. This hope makes me strong in the Lord, fearless in battle, and able to withstand fiery trials and tribulations without losing faith, because I see the final result – my eternal salvation.
The sword of the Spirit is the word of God. (Hebrews 4:12.) It can anger the entire army of unclean spirits. With this sword we can always overcome, because the word overcomes, as Jesus taught us when he said:
I must possess the word—know it inside and out—and then use it to fight and overcome all flesh. A word from God can stop the enemy. The word judges between right and wrong, good and bad and shows me the truth. If I am obedient to this, Iblis can never lead me astray.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day. do everything, stand still.
Therefore, lean on the truth, put on the ring of righteousness and stand on your feet preparing the gospel of peace. above all, take up the shield of faith with which you can quench all the flaming arrows of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. pray always with all prayers and supplications in the Spirit…”

As Christians, we are always in a spiritual battle. Our war in this spiritual war is different from the war we fight in the world. First, we do not use physical weapons to fight, but spiritual ones. Second, our struggle is not against other people, but against the rulers and authorities and the dark forces of the world and against the evil spiritual forces in the heavenly realms. In spiritual warfare, we have to defeat our enemy the devil and his demons without God’s help. This is why Paul tells us to use the spiritual armor known as the full armor of God. The armor will help us fight the good fight when it comes to the devil and help us stand strong during and after every battle we face.
