The structure disappeared several days after it was first spotted near Petrodava Dacian Fortress, an archaeological site in the northern Neamt region.
A short while later, a new monolith was seen on top of a mountain in southern California before it also disappeared.
Then, on the first day of December, people stumble upon a tall glowing monolith on the beach on the island of Vecta. The pole was spotted on Compton Beach to the west of the island.

While the mystery of the original monoliths is shrouded, an anonymous collective, called Noble Artists, has received credit in Utah and California, and is selling several copies for $45,000 (£34,000) each.
However, when asked about the structure of the island of Vecte, he said: “The monolith is out of my control in this place. God bless all the aliens who are working around the world to spread the story.
A designer from West Sussex has claimed responsibility for the Isle of Wight monolith, saying he created it “just for fun”.

Tom Dunford, 29, told the BBC to explain the choice of location: “If the aliens come down, I think they’ll go to the safest place, which is Vecta Island on Level 1.”
The structure has provoked comparisons to the film 2001: A Space Odyssey, where the alien monolith is the most frequent symbol that seems to play a role in human evolution.
Bret Hutchings, the helicopter pilot who first saw the monoliths in Utah, told local news station KSLTV that he thought the structures were a “new wave artist” or someone from a Stanley Kubrick film.

Speaking about the Romanian monolith, Piatra Neamt mayor Andrei Carabelea wrote on Facebook: “There is nothing to be afraid of for those who still think there is life in the world.”
“I think some strange, lecherous and terrible teenagers have left home with their parents’ UFO and are putting metal monoliths around the world,” the Mayor said. “First in Utah and then in Piatra Neamt. I am honored that they chose our city.”
A Colorado photographer told KSTU-TV that he saw four men come to a remote Utah location one night and pounce on a stainless steel object, saying he “left no trace” when he left.

Meanwhile, authorities in the city of Atascadero in California say that a group of young people destroyed their monolith who tried to travel five hours past midnight.
Heather Moreno, a local mayor, said: “We are angry that these young people felt the need to come five hours into our community and force a monolith. The monolith was something unique and fun in an otherwise stressful time.”

The seismic wave started about 15 miles off the coast of Mayotte, a French island sandwiched between Africa and northern Madagascar. Waves across Africa, in Zambia, Kenya, and Ethiopia, sound sensors. They cross vast seas, through Chile, New Zealand, Canada, and even Hawaii, almost 11,000 miles away.

These waves not only rumble through; they rang for more than 20 minutes. But no one sees them.
Only one person noticed the odd signal displayed on the US Geological Survey real-time seismogram. An earthquake fanatic who goes by the handle @matarikipax spotted a curious slant and posted the pictures on Twitter. That small action set off another kind of ripple as researchers around the world tried to pinpoint the source of the waves. Was it hit by a meteor? A submarine eruption? Or an ancient monster rising from the depths of the sea?
“I don’t think I’ve seen this,” said Göran Ekström, a seismologist at Columbia University who specializes in unusual motions.

“Not that in the end their cause is exotic,” he noted. But many of the characteristics of the waves are surprisingly unusual – from a surprisingly monotonous, low-frequency ring spread on a global scale. and researchers are still pursuing the geological puzzle.
In a normal earthquake, the tension that has built up in the Earth’s crust is released in a few seconds with the earthquake. This series of waves is emitted as a “wave train” from the rupture point, explains Stephen Hicks, a seismologist at the University of Southampton.
The fastest way signals are primary waves, or P waves, which are compression waves that move in clusters, like what happens on a stretched slide that is suddenly pushed to one end. Then follow the secondary waves, or S waves, which have more lateral movement. Both of these so-called body waves have a high frequency to each other, Hicks says, like a painting rather than a murmur.

Finally, a signal came at the end of a slow, prolonged surface wave, similar to the unusual signal that had come from Mayotte. For an intense earthquake, these surface waves can be sent around the planet multiple times, ringing Earth like bells, Hicks said.
However, there were no major earthquakes triggered by recent waves. In addition to the insolence, the mysterious waves of Mayotte are what scientists call monochrome. Most earthquakes send waves with a wide range of different frequencies, but the Mayotte signal was dominated by a nice oblique wave type that took 17 seconds to repeat.
Anthony Lomax, an independent seismology consultant, said: “It’s like you’re wearing colored glasses and only seeing red or something.

According to the scientific research carried out so far, the tremors seem to be related to the earthquake that has occupied Mayotte since last May. During that time the little nation was moved by a hundred earthquakes, most of them about 31 miles from the coast, just with an odd rumble from the east. Most of the earthquakes were minor, but the largest of the magnitude 5.8 clocks on May 15, the largest in the island’s recorded history. But the frequency of such tremors has dropped in recent months – and no traditional earthquakes have sounded since the mysterious waves began on November 11.
The French Geological Survey (BRGM) is closely monitoring the recent tremor, and suggests that a new center of volcanic activity may be emerging on the coast. Mayotte was formed by volcanism, but its geological fauna has erupted for more than 4,000 years. Instead, the BRGM analysis suggests that this new magmatic activity may indicate nearshore movement — miles from shore in thousands of feet of water. Although this is good news for the islanders, it is troubling for geologists because it is an area that has not been explored in detail.
Nicolas Taillefer, head of the seismic risk and molar unit at BRGM, said: “The location is examined on the edge of the geological map that we have. On November 11th, it says, “the fault is known in our signal stations.”

Even if it is broken, the scientists are not without lead. For one thing, they know that Mayotte is on the move. Since mid-July, GPS stations on the island have tracked it sliding more than 2.4 inches to the east, and 1.2 inches to the south, according to a BRGM report from Nov. 12. With these measurements, Taillefer notes, the agency evaluates the magma. a body measuring about a third of a cubic mile makes its way through the surface near Mayotte.
