Why Are There Starving People In The World – Although the number of hungry people has decreased for 10 years, it has increased in the last three years, according to the UN. Globally, more than 820 million people in the world are suffering from hunger. That equates to one in nine people. In the past year, that number has increased by nine million.

There was not enough sugar in Bengal to eat. Her husband, who worked in the tea plantations, earned enough money to eat fried rice twice a day. But when Kanti gave birth to her first child, Mala, her lack of nutrition caused her child to become malnourished.
“I wasn’t producing enough milk for him to eat,” Canty said. “All I can do is give him water because I don’t have any.”
Interestingly, when Mala was three months old, Kanti learned about Mercy’s survival program, which helped her raise her child and receive health and nutrition education. Today, Mala is a healthy eight-month-old baby. Animals are not at risk of developing or dying from disease due to malnutrition.
The New Face Of Hunger
But there are too many hungry children. One of our fellow worshipers in the church in Ethiopia reported that children are sleeping at school because of hunger. A church on the coast of Ecuador reported that the children of their community ate only one meal a day. In a church in Bengal, a desperate pregnant woman came to them for help. He weighed only 80 kilograms.
You can give food to a child who has to skip lunch. For a child who keeps getting sick because the food is not enough. There is a mother carrying her precious child.

The latest figures show that 102 million people were at risk of hunger last year, a 30% increase from 80 million in 2015.
The rise coincided with deepening humanitarian crises in Yemen, South Sudan, Nigeria and Somalia, where conflict and drought have reduced food production.
“So far humanitarian aid has saved many people, but their food situation continues to deteriorate,” Mr. Burgon said in an interview with the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

“We can prevent them from starving, but we are not experts in getting them off the cliff, safe from food.”
A UN study estimates that 28 million people are facing “acute” food and health insecurity in South Sudan’s Greater Upper Nile states, including the United States.

The UN report says there is “significant evidence” of humanitarian crisis in the four Unity states, where communities have been using “heavy-handed relief measures” since the start of the conflict.
Last month, the United Nations’ World Food Program said more than 20 million people — more than the people of Romania or Florida — are at risk of starvation in the next six months.
Wars in Yemen, Nigeria, and South Sudan have devastated communities, and droughts in East Africa have devastated agricultural economies and left millions in poverty.
We Are In Crisis Mode.
Famine has been officially declared in two regions in South Sudan as a result of the long civil war and the economic instability of the country.
In an affluent region of northeastern Nigeria, a seven-year insurgency by Boko Haram has uprooted an estimated 1.8 million people and forced many to leave their farms.
UN officials say the government has retaken most of the ground it lost to the jihadists, but security remains a concern.

Adra Faces The Global Hunger Crisis
There is a problem in Africa – I saw it there. But it was far from the images I had seen in the West.
